Three at the Mumbai Bar

Ch. 1 · Tuesday Night Ritual

Establishing shot of the exterior of the Corporate Lounge. The neon sign glows purple and pink against the night sky. Arjun is visible just inside the entrance, looking out onto the street.
  1. Narration: Tuesday nights at the Corporate Lounge. A predictable ritual. A professional obligation. A thin veneer over something else.
Arjun checks his phone, looking bored. A sleek, vibrant figure enters the frame.
  1. Mariya: You look exactly as I imagined. Waiting for someone important.
Mariya approaches Arjun. She leans in slightly, her presence dominating the space, while Arjun meets her gaze, a flicker of awareness crossing his face.
  1. Arjun: Mariya. You are prompt. As usual.
  2. Mariya: I am punctual. Unlike some people who seem to believe time bends to their convenience.
They move from the entrance to a small, secluded booth at the bar. The conversation shifts from professional to personal.
  1. Mariya: It’s always a pleasure to see you outside the boardrooms, Arjun.
Arjun leans forward, lowering his voice, seeking a deeper connection beneath the professional façade. Mariya responds with a subtle, knowing smile.
  1. Arjun: Sometimes I wonder if we're just two people playing roles, even when we're just talking about work.
  2. Mariya: Perhaps we are. But even a role requires a certain dedication, wouldn't you agree?
Mariya raises her glass in a toast, a sophisticated gesture. Arjun responds with a genuine, if slightly strained, smile.
  1. Mariya: To the necessary risks, then. The kind that keep us at the top.
  2. Arjun: And to the brief moments where we don't have to pretend.
Mariya leans back slightly, observing the room, a shift in her attention. Arjun remains focused on her, subtly caught in her orbit.
  1. Mariya: You know, sometimes I think you enjoy the complexity of these evenings.
  2. Arjun: I enjoy the truth. And sometimes, the truth is wonderfully complex.
A new figure enters the general vicinity of their booth. Poonam is spotted first, drawing the eye with her distinct presence.
  1. Narration: The atmosphere, already thick with unspoken tension, suddenly shifted. A third presence entered the orbit.
Poonam approaches the table. Her presence is magnetic, drawing the focus of both Arjun and Mariya. She radiates a quiet, intense confidence.
  1. Poonam: I heard you were having a reunion of the highly sophisticated. I hope I'm not interrupting.
  2. Arjun: Not at all. We were just discussing the nature of complex arrangements.
Poonam smiles at Mariya, a hint of an old friendship in her eyes, while Mariya returns the smile, a flicker of warmth breaking through her professional shell.
  1. Mariya: Poonam. Of course. You always manage to appear precisely when the conversation is reaching a critical juncture.
Poonam slides onto the barstool next to Arjun. The movement is smooth and deliberate. She is close enough that her presence immediately changes the air.
  1. Poonam: I needed to see this reunion. I needed to see what kind of complexity you all bring.
  2. Arjun: Poonam, you always arrive like a sudden, beautiful storm.
A dynamic, composition-heavy shot of the three characters. Poonam is closest to Arjun, Mariya is leaning in from the other side, and they are all focused on a shared, intense moment.
