The Tell-Tale Heart
The TellTale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe adapted on FicPal
A nervous narrator insists he is not mad, then tells how a pale, filmed 'vulture eye' drove him to stalk the kindly old man he lived with, night after night at midnight, until the eighth night ended in murder. With the body hidden beneath the floorboards, he welcomes three police officers with perfect calm, until a low, dull, quick sound begins to rise.
