Synopsis

On the seventh floor of the Nine Levels Lifespan Pawnshop, sixteen-year-old mortal courier Lu Yan carries sealed years of immortal life across counters that their owners are too afraid to touch. Her tongue can taste the age and bloodline of sealed lifespan, a rare mortal sensitivity that keeps the pawnshop machinery moving. During a night shift, a green-hooded customer deposits thirty years that taste exactly like Lu Yan’s dead mother, proving her mother survived the famine story Lu Yan was raised on and was harvested somewhere inside the immortal realm. Bound by her grandmother’s indenture contract and unable to leave without clerk approval, Lu Yan begins secretly tracking every deposit. Each customer’s collateral reveals stolen bloodlines, murders, and hidden debts. When Senior Clerk Shen Yue discovers her ledger, he offers protection and expedited payments for her dying grandmother, but his help has a price. The pilot escalates from one impossible taste to a trap: Lu Yan handles a deposit that tastes like her own future lifespan, then faces the return of the green-hooded customer with years stolen from her grandmother. A signed exit chit lies within reach, but Shen Yue demands a hundred more years of service before she can take it. The pilot ends with Lu Yan’s brush suspended mid-stroke over the side-contract.
