The Witness Coin

Synopsis

In Bone-Bell City, nineteen-year-old Tan Jiaolin collects debts for Five Crane Exchange, a six-floor cultivator bank that owns eight more years of his life. When he inherits a forty-year-old witness coin that should have been melted, the coin grows warm inside the bank and points toward the grandmaster's restricted circle. Jiaolin wants only to protect his sister's last six months before freedom, but every floor he investigates reveals that his family's indenture began with a buried assassination loan. If he exposes the truth, he loses everything. If he sells or melts the coin, the lie that enslaved his family survives.
