Red Thread Without Mercy
Chapter 1
1/11
Panel 2

Night rain leaks through the roof of a once-grand demonic sect audience hall. Qing He kneels in the foreground with face fully visible to camera; Elder Mo sits behind a low table holding a sealed writ.

Panel 3

The impossible mission is presented as an honor. The hall is austere, with plain period writing tools and no ornate luxury.

Panel 4

Qing He understands the order is a death sentence but does not say it. Rainwater crawls across the floor like ink.

Panel 5

A vertical city street glows with thousands of red lanterns, vermilion cords strung between old tiled roofs, paired-lock charms hanging from stalls, crowds in period festival clothing.

Panel 6

Qing He enters the festival alone and checks his cheap ambush tools among the crowd.

Panel 7

A loud festival matchmaker mistakes Qing He for a lonely customer, or pretends to. Her stall is covered in wooden charms and red thread.

Panel 8

Qing He climbs to a roof edge and watches the ceremonial road. Below, pilgrims clear a path for Radiant Expanse disciples.

Panel 9

The crowd parts beneath a bridge of lanterns. Ling Suyin appears in white and gold, face fully visible to camera, untouched by the chaos around her.

Panel 10

Their first line of sight occurs across festival noise. Nothing supernatural is named; the pressure is visual and bodily.

Panel 11

The ambush is set in motion as Ling approaches the shrine alley. Lantern light cuts the action into red and black shapes.

Panel 12

In the narrow alley, Qing He's needle hovers at Ling Suyin's neck. Her head is turned just enough to show one pale gold eye.
