Ember Dream

Synopsis

Han Yuna, seventeen and unafraid of anything in the waking world, has walked the same dream for two years: an endless plain of black rock and terraced lava pools, and a boy at the end of it whose face the light refuses to touch. Every night he tries to tell her one word, and every night the world collapses before he can. When the dream starts leaking into her ordinary school life — burns that won't heal, ash she can't wash out, a sky that goes vermilion for three seconds — Yuna stops asking what the dream means and starts hunting the answer. She finds it in the school counselor's appointment book, in a transfer student with the same burn scars as the boy who won't show his face, and in a past life where she was the one who locked the fire away. To save her best friend's sleep and the boy she was never allowed to see, Yuna has to walk into the lava on purpose — and this time, not run.
