Synopsis
In the border fortress of Kestrel Wall, a life saved creates a blood-vow: one task owed to the savior, inheritable by either line until paid. Ren Hauk, a sixteen-year-old blacksmith's apprentice, believed his dead father was a wall-hero. On his birthday, his mother gives him the vow-iron ledger and reveals eleven unpaid debts waiting for him. Ren can read the burned vow-marks hidden at a person's collarbone, a smith's skill that lets him see the invisible economy of favors, leverage, and survival. But he cannot refuse the inheritance without becoming forsworn and destroying his mother and sister's future. Each called vow forces Ren to obey, compromise, or betray someone nearby, while exposing what kind of man his father truly was. The pilot follows the first five calls: a humiliating assault, a sealed affair, a false testimony, an attempted murder, and a legal trap that brands Ren himself.
