Synopsis

On the night the imperial guard comes for the estate, she stages Wei Rong's suicide in the ancestral hall — a body, a farewell scroll, the family's face preserved just enough that the branch women are spared. She walks out through the servants' gate in Zhao Lian's plain robe with only her mother's jade half-pendant, Gu Yanzhi three steps behind her, and keeps walking. She never reclaims the name she was born to. Revenge cost the family, the sister, and the self.
